They say a cluttered desk is a sign that you’re a genius. Well…as you can see in the picture below, I must be some sort of genius and I’ll take it. LOL!
Seriously though, today’s #InstaWriMo challenge was to take a picture of your workspace and I’m ever so grateful for mine.
When we first moved to our tiny little bungalow in (way tooooooo hot lately) sunny, southern California, I didn’t think we could carve out a space for an actual desk. So, after many incarnations of this particular corner, finding this perfect sized desk was magic.
Now when I sit here thinking about the writing I’m about to do, I get giddy. It’s a feeling I haven’t experienced in quite some time and I’m delighted to have it back.
And, that feeling is in no small part to what I get to surround myself with in my little writing corner. The writing gloves from Storiarts that I dreamed about for months before I decided that it was OK to treat myself on something so frivolous remind me when I put them on that I get to claim being a writer.
My mug with a quote from Dumbledore that reads “Words are in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic,” reminds me that I get to create magic when I write and that just makes my heart sing.
The notebook I started specifically for the NaNoWriMo challenge has a cat on it because I am using the marvelous teachings of author, Jessica Brody (who wrote Save the Cat Writes a Novel) and that reminds me that I’m supported as I figure out my own writing process and style.
And, the laptop case and poster in the windowsill both remind me to be strong like the sun – powerful yet warm – as I go about my author journey.
I’m a big believer that space can affect our mood and this space certainly has for me.
I’d love to hear about your space. Comment on this post on Instagram by clicking the photo above 🙂
